Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

 

  • CENTER FOR BODY-MIND HARMONY WILL BE MOVING: We have worked out an arrangement with the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls to move our Martial Arts program into the Natatorium. Our last class at our current Bailey Rd location will be on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Our first class at the NAT will be on Saturday, January 3, 2026. More information about class times will be posted on this website as we get closer to our move date.
  • SHIFU HARRIS WILL BE TEACHEING AT SAGE: For three years Shifu Harris has been teaching Taiji and Qigong at SAGE in Hudson, OH. This Fall he will be teaching a Fall Prevention class.
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and for the NAT Beginner students on Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM.  Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Center for Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum.
